I have had multiple opportunities to capture some pretty amazing bird. The balance of focusing, tracking your object and quality of the lens and light can make trying to capture bird photography quite challenging. All of my birds images are from birds that were kind enough to stand still and even then my photos were hindered by bad lighting, bad focus and just missed timing. It is still amazing seeing a Bald Eagle sore overhead, hoping it will dive toward the water. Even then I know my skills are far to lacking to actually hope to capture the iconic fish grab.
If I could give you one piece of advice. Don’t try to compensate by buying the most expensive lens. Although faster lens will help and will reduce errors. I know I need a lot more practice before I expect to capture birds in action.
